Medical School: University of Queensland School of Medicine

Originally from Ohio, Dr. Matina Mamounas earned undergraduate degrees in Biology and Psychology from the University of Miami before completing dual master's degrees in Public Health and Behavioral Health at the University of San Francisco. During that time, she worked in clinical research, public health, and harm reduction programs serving underserved communities.

Her passion for global health led her to live and work in Argentina before earning her medical degree through the University of Queensland–Ochsner Clinical School, where she trained in both Australia and New Orleans. Those experiences helped shape her commitment to culturally responsive, patient-centered care.

Dr. Mamounas chose Family Medicine because it allows her to combine her interests in mental health, addiction medicine, sexual and reproductive health, and patient advocacy while caring for individuals and families across every stage of life.

Outside of medicine, she enjoys cooking, live music, tennis, and spending time with her dogs, Buddy and Macaroni.
